Walk to school Day and safety around schools

It was a beautiful morning to participate in our "Walk safely to school Day" today. There is no better way to start the day than a nice walk with friends. Here are some photos of the event.
Quelle belle matinée pour participer à l'évènement "Marchons vers l'école" aujourd'hui. Marcher avec les copains est la meilleure façon de démarrer la journée ! Voici quelques photos de l'évènment.
Reminder to be very vigilant when driving around schools
This morning a student almost came into contact with a car that turned a corner quickly, without indicating. The student slammed on his brakes and fell from his bike, avoiding any contact with the car.
A CJC parent assisted the student to the front foyer of the school. Fortunately the student was not seriously injured.
Driving around school zones
Keeping our kids safe as they get to and from school is everyone’s responsibility.
As kids come to and from school it’s important for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists to be aware and take extra care during these busy times. Even a small reduction in speed could save a child’s life.
To help keep our kids safe, it’s important for drivers to:
- watch out for pedestrians and be aware that young children can be unpredictable and difficult to see
- give cyclists plenty of space
- slow down in school speed zones during school times
- be extra cautious around schools.
