Welcome Back, Term 4

The first fortnight of the last term is behind us already!   With the corridors displaying student work and classrooms buzzing with new learning and energy, it has been a wonderful return to the final term of 2022.  Be sure to read the 'Upcoming Events' for this term as there are many events throughout the school planned.

Open Afternoon

What a fantastic attendance rate we had for this event in our first week back.  Celebrating learning, with an opportunity for our students to share their success with family and friends.  Speaking with students, they commented it was a fun afternoon and they enjoyed 'showing off' their learning, portfolios, and displayed pieces to parents, carers and siblings, even aunties, uncles and friends.  Of course, the sausage sizzle and the opportunity to purchase a soft drink were a highlight too.

Early Years Evaluation

Pakenham Springs uses the Early Years Evaluation (EYE) with all future Prep students. The EYE is used by governments around the world to support young learners and reduce long-term literacy failure.  This information helps our school to inform class placement, predicted student supports, and teacher needs. The information helps to set the child, teacher and school, up for success.  Parents also gain immediate feedback on the day of the assessment.

Uniform Reminder

We are proud to be members of the Pakenham Springs community, and we want all students to share this pride.  Our uniform is a direct reflection of the perceptions others have about our school.  All families are reminded that we have a compulsory school uniform that must be worn by every student, every day.  On the rare occasion that an item may be in the wash and unable to be worn, a signed and dated note for that single day, will be accepted.  Students have been reminded about this, and may be offered a 'spare' jumper or jacket to borrow for the day should this become an ongoing issue.  In Term 4, all students must be wearing a 'sun smart' hat (broad brim or bucket style) during recess and lunch breaks.  Students without a hat must remain under the designated undercover area during break times.

2023 Planning - Reminder

It's that time of year again when we need numbers for 2023.  Please let us know as soon as possible if you have a child starting in 2023.  Step into Prep is already underway.  Also please let us know if you will be leaving.

Accurate student numbers allow us to budget and employ the correct number of staff.

We are beginning recruiting earlier this year due to the teacher shortage to ensure we lock in the best staff we can.

Stay tuned for the adventures and excitement of the term ahead by logging regularly into COMPASS, communicating with staff and using the 'upcoming events 2022' newsletter page.

Have a terrific fortnight everyone.
