Positive Schools

PAC Cup

Over the last five weeks of Term 3 our focus was on Bringing your planner to all classes & using the planner as a communication Tool! 11,600 positive chronicles were awarded to students across the three Neighbourhoods.

Thank you to our students for demonstrating our College Values of Aspiration, Integrity Respect and Responsibility by bringing your planners to every class and using them for their intended purpose – to support your learning.  A big thank you to our teachers as well, for adding those positive chronicles.

This was the closest PAC Cup result we have had so far, with only 11 positive chronicles between first and second place!

First Place:        Loddon House (Bayuna Neighbourhood) 2057 positive chronicles

Second Place: Warrego House (Bayuna Neighbourhood) 2046 positive chronicles

Third Place:      Keiwa House (Dharnya Neighbourhood) 1646 positive chronicles

Congratulations to Loddon on their first PAC Cup!

Term 4 SWPBS Focus: Mobile Phones

The Department of Education has mandated that mobile phones are not to be used by students in Victorian Schools for the duration of the school day. To ensure that our students make the very most of the high-quality teaching and learning opportunities provided to them at this school, GSSC will continue our commitment to the Department of Education Mobile Phone Policy. Student phones are to be placed in lockers for the duration of the school day – including breaks.

Some familiar questions students ask when reminded that phones are to be in lockers are:

Q: What if I need to use Compass?

A: Use your laptop to access Compass

Q: What if my parent/carer needs to call me?

A: Parents/carers can contact the general office and they will forward the message to you.

Q: What if I need to contact my parent/carer?

A: Please ask your House Reception to contact your parent/carer on your behalf.

Q: What if I don’t have a lock on my locker?

A: Please ask your House Reception to look after your phone for the day.

We encourage you to discuss the Department of Education’s Mobile Phone Policy with your child. Commencing Week 2 of Term 4, teachers will award positive chronicles when a student does not have a mobile phone. The House with the most positive chronicles for not having their mobile phones will win the next PAC Cup and be awarded with a pizza lunch.
