Graduation Activities

The Senior Sub-school leaders have been working closely with the student leadership groups from each Neighbourhood to put together a plan for the Year 12 Graduation Assemblies and Valedictory Dinner. The following is proposed:

October 18

Final day of formal classes for VCE Year 12 students. The last class will be session 4. After lunch the group will be addressed by the Executive Principal, Barbara O’Brien, and the Neighbourhood Principals, Dougie Souter, Daisy Utber and Stephen Bolton. This will be followed by a brief rehearsal for the Graduation Assembly to be held the following morning. The students will be dismissed at approximately 3:00pm.

October 19

At 7am breakfast will be served for graduating Year 12 students. The meal will be prepared and served by Greater Shepparton Secondary College staff.

At 9am an assembly for the graduating class, arranged by the students, will be held in the GSSC Gym. The audience will consist of Year 11 students, as well as siblings of the graduating class. The event will be live-streamed to all other students. Graduating Year 12 students will not be required on-site when the Graduation Assembly finishes. Students who need to go to GOTAFE will be bussed from GSSC at 11:00am at the latest.

Until October 25

VCE students will be on SWOT VAC. It is intended that D1:51 will continue to be available for private study for the Year 12 students who may find it challenging to study at home. Year 12 VCE teachers will be available to assist students. 

Until November 4

VCAL students will able to continue to come to class to complete work. 

October 26 - November 16

This is the VCAA VCE Unit 3/4 examination period. Exams held between October 26 and October 31 will be held in the GSSC Gym. Exams held between November 2 and November 16 will be held at St Augustine’s Hall in Orr Street.

November 22 - 5.15pm

Assembly for the graduating class in the GSSC Gym. Family and friends 

of graduating students will make up the audience. Parents and carers will receive a notification on Compass to indicate the number of people wishing to attend. Please return this information through Compass. It is important students are at the Gym by 5:15 pm.

November 22 - 7pm

Valedictory Dinner for members of the graduating class at Eastbank, Welsford Street

Shepparton. Buses will be available to help transport students from GSSC to Eastbank. Attendance at the Valedictory Dinner will be restricted to graduating students and staff. The venue managers have placed a limit on the numbers who can be in the venue. Unfortunately, the size of the graduating class means, therefore, we are not able to accommodate guests. Tickets will go on sale in the second week of Term 4. Dress for both Graduation and the Valedictory Dinner is semi-formal (dress to impress!).
