Forest Room
Hello Forest Room Families and Friends,
Time flies! Can't believe we finished Term 3 and one more term will be at the end of the year. We will send some of the children to the 4-year-old kinder and the other to school, it's hard to believe. I have to say Term 3 is such a busy and fun term. We had weekly cooking program, went regularly park excursion, a few incursions visited and celebrated some special events.
Practice Independence Skills:
One of the learning goals for Term 3 is "encourage children to develop their emerging autonomy, inter-dependence, resilience, and sense of agency". We want to provide opportunities for children to engage independently with tasks and play. We want them to feel that they have the power and right to make choices for themselves.

Cooking Program:
Term 3's cooking program is leading by Sikha. When every week we told the children that we have cooking program on the day, they always exciting for the hands-on cooking experiences. The food tasted extra yummy when they were involved in the process of making it. We were so lucky to have a few children's families helped in some of the session.
Incursion & Excursion:
-Road Safety (26th July)
Since Term2, we were taking children to the park each week for excursions. On the way to the park, we always have to walk along side the busy road (Taylors Ln). It's important for children to learn stay with us whole time and be safe. The incursion was fun and easier way to help children build the foundation knowledge of road safety.
-Reptile Incursion (10th August)
We had the reptile encounter incursion visit us with reptiles and mini beasts. Our children were so engaged and excited to view and touch the amazing mini-beasts. We meet Goliath stick insects, cockroaches, rainforest millipedes, green frogs, scorpions, and rough scaled pythons. All the insect was so friendly and a lot of us wanted to touch and have a photo with them.
-CFA Incursion (13th September)
We are so lucky to have the Rowville CFA team come visit us. It's such a wonderful experience for children to learn 'What a firefighter does" and "the important role they played in our community". They told us: "Firefighters are trained to control and put out fires. We must work quickly and as a team to keep fires from spreading" They also work non-fire emergencies, such as road accidents and medical emergencies. We went on the truck and took close look of those special bottoms. We even
all had turn with holding the hose.
-Library Visit Excursion (8th September)
During the term, we had the librarian Michelle from Rowville library came visit us a few time. In Term3, we decided to go for an excursion to visit Rowville library and Michelle. It was long walk for children. But they did amazing job! Michelle read a few books to us and also showed us how to borrow and return books.
Special Events:
-PJ Week (22nd July)
During the Pyjama week, we encouraged children to wear their favourite PJ and help to raise funds to support children living in foster care. We even watched a movie and popcorn on the Friday to make it even more special.
-Father's Day (2nd September)
Thank you to all the dads and special persons who came in on that Friday to celebrate Father's Day. Children made the Father's Day gifts with lots of love and care. We hope you have noticed that we recycled some of our unclaimed paintings for wrapping your grass pot. All the cards are also made by recycling paper. It was a long process to make them. This is intentional as part of our learning and everyday practice for being sustainable and 'Green'.
-Science Week (15th August-19th August)
The National Science Week theme for 2022 is Glass. We did a few science experiments around the glass.
-Book Week (22nd August- 26th August)
During the book week, children were excited to dress up as their favourite book characters and share their favourite storybooks with us. In group time, we discussed the importance of reading.
