Hello, from Carolyn.

Hello everyone!

Art Show cancelled.

Ms. Leversha, our Art teacher, is unwell and will be absent for a number of weeks. Keep resting Sheridan and getting better!

We have cancelled our Art show, which is especially disappointing for Sheridan and our students who have been working hard to create beautiful pieces for us all to enjoy. We have our fingers crossed that we might still be able to hold the Art show before the end of term but for now, our thoughts and best wishes are with Sheridan for a successful recovery.

New fire ratings.

This year, a new fire danger rating system was introduced across Australia. Whilst the weather is cold and wet right now, hot summer weather is not that far away. Now is the time to familiarise yourself with the new rating system, review your family's fire season preparation and plans and make sure you have the most up to date version of the Vic Emergency app on your phone. Our school is a Bushfire At Risk school which means we will be closed on days that are forecast to be 'Catastrophic'.

Visit the CFA website for more detailed information.

It's time to wear our hats!

All students, and staff, are expected to be wearing their hats outside this term. Our uniform supplier, Noone, sells sunsmart hats and there might be some available from our second hand uniform shop.

Updated school policies.

The following policies have been updated and are available on our website.

  • Duty of Care
  • Health Care Needs
  • Yard Duty and Supervision

Student Scholarships.

The Department of Education and Training administers a number of scholarships that are available to eligible students who are currently enrolled in Grade 4 to Year 12 in 2022.

Applicants for these scholarships will be evaluated on their:

  • participation in school activities
  • community involvement
  • academic record for the current year.

Scholarships are either one-off payments or cover the duration of the student’s course or annual study.

Many of these scholarships have specific eligibility criteria so please refer to individual applications for more information. Applications are open and close on Wednesday 1 February 2023.

For more information and a list of available scholarships, see the 2022 Student scholarships for Grade 4 – Year 12 fact sheet.

For information on how to apply, refer to  Student scholarships.

Before and After School supervision.

Student safety at Bendigo Primary School is our highest priority and the safe and appropriate supervision of students is an important element of our duty of care to students. Part of this duty is ensuring parents and students are aware of our student supervision arrangements before and after school.

Before school: School grounds are supervised from 8:30am-8:45am.

After school: School grounds are supervised from 3:00pm-3:15pm.

Students on school grounds outside these times will not be supervised (unless they are attending a before or after school care program or supervised extracurricular activity).

Parents/carers are requested to ensure that students do not attend school outside of these supervised times unless they are attending before or after school care, or a pre-arranged supervised activity (i.e. sports practice).

You can access our school’s 'Yard Duty and Supervision Policy' here, and please contact me if you require more information.
