Principal's message

Dear Parents/Carers,

END OF TERM 3

I would like to thank the students, staff, parents and all involved at Warrnambool Primary School for a great Term 3. It has been a long and cold term but throughout the ten weeks our students have been recognised for achievements in academia, sport and public speaking for which we should be proud. Term 4 will commence on Monday 3rd October 2022.

WARRNAMBOOL PRIMARY PARENTS ASSOCIATION (WPPA)

Another great term by our wonderful parents association spending much of their time volunteering to support extra programs which our school enjoys and the students love. Today we were lucky to finish the term with our sports day extravaganza and sausage sizzle lunch. We cooked over 550 sausages which were very much appreciated by the students at lunch time. Thank-you to all who volunteered their time today. The Parents association always needs more helpers and volunteers to assist them. They meet twice a term to discuss plans for the next wonderful activities that they have in store for our school. The children are the true beneficiaries of their hard work so please join in and make the workload easier for those on the executive and have some fun along the way. The next meeting is on Tuesday 11 October 2022 at 6:00pm in the staff room. All welcome.

STAFFING NEWS

A huge thank you and well done to Emily Hunter who will be leaving Warrnambool Primary School at the end of this term. I know that Emily will enjoy spending more quality time with her family.

We are sad to see Emily leave but at the same time it will be good to welcome Jonathon Pollard back to Warrnambool Primary School. Mary Ferguson will take extended leave and we wish her all the very best. Mary will spend more time with her growing family and take the opportunity to travel. Warrnambool Primary School is indebted to Mary for her outstanding teaching and educational leadership over many years.

We welcome Patrick Kluver to the LOTE teaching role for next term.

Sharyn Fary was successful is securing the Business Manager position at Warrnambool College for 2023. At this stage it is a 12 month position and we wish Sharyn all the very best. We advertised through Recruitment on Line, shortlisted and interviewed last week. The successful candidate for the 12 month vacancy is Joanne Saffin who is the substantive Business Manager at Grasmere Primary School. We will welcome Joanne at the commencement of the 2023 school year.

TEACHER’S AIDE POSITION EAL

Wei-Lin Mai, was re-appointed to her EAL Teacher’s Aide position last week. This position was also advertised through Recruitment on Line.

We advertised four on-going classroom teaching positions through Recruitment on Line. We interviewed yesterday and are delighted to announce that Dale Beane, Jasmine Cunningham, Patrick Kluver and Jarryd Lewis were the successful candidates. These positions will be on-going from the start of the 2023 school year.

SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS

Patrick Stuart in Year 6 was nominated for the Warrnambool/Moyne Youth awards for his endeavours at school in sustainability but also for his innovation in creating briquettes using re-cycled paper. I had the pleasure of attending the event at Deakin University on Sunday. Patrick and his family are justifiably very proud. As are we at school.

Have a great school holidays, stay safe and see you all next term.
