CAR DROP OFF AND PICK UP

A reminder that if you are dropping your child at school in the morning using car drop off, please do not get out of your car. This is for children that can independently exit the car and are happy to walk into school by themselves. If your child needs to be walked to the gate, then you will need to park your car and walk them in. We appreciate your understanding.

WALK SAFELY TO SCHOOL DAY

National Walk Safely to School Day is a community initiative that aims to raise awareness of the health, road safety, transport and environmental benefits that regular walking (especially to and from school) can provide for the long term well-being of our children. Now in its 24th year, the annual event encourages parents and teachers to teach road safety skills and support the importance of regular walking, not just on 19th May, but every day.

TOYS AND BALLS FROM HOME

Students are asked not to bring in 'toys' or balls from home as we have plenty of tennis balls, soccer balls, basketballs and footballs that the students can access before school and at each break. Handballs are the only type of ball that can be brought to school (please ensure they are labelled with your child's name).

A Lego table, the sandpit (with a variety of containers and spades), the car track (with mini cars and trucks) and picnic tables (with mini figures) in the school garden area also offer students a place to play with friends.

SCHOOL UNIFORM - SUMMER TO WINTER

All students are now expected to be wearing their full winter uniform. Lowes stock all the St Nicholas uniforms, or we have a selection available in our clothing pool. Our winter uniform on Tuesdays and Thursdays includes the wearing of a tie for both boys and girls. Thank you for your support in ensuring that our students take pride in how they wear their uniform.

STUDENT-LED LEARNING CONFERENCES

To continue the wonderful support you have for your child’s education, please mark in your diaries the period between 12th - 23rd June (Week 8 & 9) for St Nicholas School Student-Led Learning Conferences. More details to follow.

As the name suggests, the Student-Led Learning Conference will focus on learning. If parents wish to discuss matters other than learning, a meeting can be booked with your child's class teacher/s or teachers may make contact at another time.

As the Student-Led Learning Conference replaces the formal Parent Teacher interviews, please remember, every day is an opportunity for a parent to make contact with a teacher. If a parent wishes to meet with their child’s teacher, they simply need to contact them to arrange an appointment at a mutually convenient time.

ICAS TESTING

This year our Year 4, 5 and 6 students from St Nicholas School have the opportunity to sit for the ICAS Exams.  ICAS is the largest independent competition and assessment program for schools in Australia.  Each student receives an individual report as well as a certificate of acknowledgment for participation.  These certificates make valuable additions to student portfolios.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE ARE NOT COMPULSORY AND YOU MAY WISH TO DO AS MANY AS YOU WISH OR NONE AT ALL.  EXAMS WILL BE ONLINE AND CONDUCTED IN EXAM CONDITIONS AT SCHOOL.  You will be informed of exact sitting dates once scheduled.

Parents/Carers must go online to the ICAS Parent Portal to register and make payment for the exams your child wishes to complete.

Your ICAS Parent Portal Link is:  https://shop.icasassessments.com/pages/pps

Your ICAS Parent Portal Access Code is:  FKG644

  • The ICAS Parent Portal will be open for Term 2 to register.
  • No registration or payment will be accepted at school.
  • Late entries will not be accepted.

COVID INFORMATION

At the end of 2022, National Cabinet announced that people who test positive to COVID-19 do not need to isolate. In line with this announcement, schools will continue to follow guidance issued by NSW Health to support the safety and wellbeing of our school communities.

Staff and students with COVID-19 symptoms

If a student or staff member is unwell and has any symptoms they should always test for COVID-19 and not attend school until they are symptom free.

Positive COVID-19 cases

If a student or staff member receives a positive result with a RAT or PCR test they should:

1.Record the positive result through the Services NSW website or app

2. Notify the school of the positive results as soon as possible
