Term 2 - Week 3

Welcome to Week 3 Term 2,

Office Administration Appreciation Day

Last Friday we recognised our fantastic administration staff as it was ‘Office Administration Appreciation Day’. While the leadership team takes the lead with school-wide approaches, and teachers take on the responsibility for the day-to-day learning and teaching, it's usually the school administrative professionals who are the keeper of the pulse of the entire school.

It's the administrative professionals who are at the front line of school communication -answering the phones, greeting visitors, welcoming new families, and scheduling appointments. It's the administrative professionals who maintain school records and dispense sage advice. It's the administrative professionals who are always there with an ice pack or bandaid when a child is hurt, a calm voice when parents are upset, and a sympathetic ear when teachers are under the pump. And so for all the above we are very grateful for our administrative professionals in Jennine, Kate, Emily, Belinda, Sophie, Becky and Jodie. Thank you ladies.

Dr Cameron Stelzer

With writing being a focus for our school this year, a fantastic initiative generated by our wonderful librarian Julie McGuirk saw Dr Cameron Stelzer visit our school this week and impart his creativity and literary talents with our whole school community.

Over the past two days Dr Cameron has engaged with students, teachers and parents, sharing his vast knowledge and passion for writing and illustrating children’s books. Staff and students were buzzing with excitement after their workshop with Dr Cameron, reigniting a love of reading, writing and illustrating. Dr Cameron was truly inspirational and spoke about how persistence, practice and commitment are important qualities to foster when engaging in writing.

Mother’s Day

Tomorrow at St Nicholas School we will acknowledge and show our gratitude to our wonderful mothers. We look forward to welcoming our mothers onsite in the Holy Family Courtyard from 7.30am to share a “Muffin with Mum”. This will be followed by a Mass at 9.30am in the Undercroft. Our students would love to see as many of our wonderful Mums and loved ones as possible at both events.

On behalf of our school community, thank you to our amazing mums and for all you do. I trust that your children will spoil you come Sunday.

Uniform

A reminder our children are required to be in full Winter Uniform on a Tuesday and Thursday. Please support our staff by ensuring your child presents to school each day in line with our Uniform Policy (Click here to Access St Nicholas Uniform Policy).

Wearing the St Nicholas uniform with pride equates to our students respecting:

  • themselves
  • their family
  • our School.

Haircuts are also addressed in the uniform policy. Please ensure your children's 'extreme haircuts' are saved for the holiday period. Hair that falls past the collar must also be tied up.

Have a great week!
