Welcome to Term 1 Newsletter

Hello Haven Families,

Welcome to our Term 1 Newsletter for 2023, this year we have welcomed so many new faces to our service and could not be more proud of the positive name that Haven Early Learning has developed in our community.

This year our newsletter will look a little different with one events page celebrating all the events and days across the term, with each room then highlighting a successful program that they have achieved in recent months. As always, we would love to know your feedback on the information that we share and any suggestions of new ideas we can implement here at Haven.

A quick reminder to all families with the cold weather coming up to please pack suitable clothing for your children including rain jackets, puffer vests, beanies and gum boots.

If we can also request that any items brought to Haven are appropriately labelled, with all children being signed in and out through Kiosk everyday (please email us if you are unsure about your pin codes).

Haven's Menu and Achievement Program

Behind the scenes we have been working hard to update our menu and ensure that we are meeting children's nutritional needs.

We are excited to say that we have now gained recognition through the Victorian Government Achievement Program as meeting the state-wide benchmark for promoting Children's Health and Oral Hygiene.

This means that our 4 week menu has been assessed and reviewed by the Healthy Eating Advisory Service and Health Promoters from EACH,  to now show that we are meeting the nutritional needs of each child.

This includes children being provided with 1 serve of lean meat/ meat alternative, 1 serve of fruit, 1 serve of vegetables and legumes, 2 serves of milk, yoghurt and cheese and 2 serves of grains each day that they attend Haven.

We would like to congratulate Julia our chef for her commitment to achieving this, with a desire to build her knowledge and modify our menu to become nutritional and appetizing for all children. Soon we will be sharing some information around the Smiles 4 Miles Program that will also be implemented at Haven to continue promoting children's oral health.

Changes to CCS are coming from 10th July 2023

This means all families will be entitled to a higher percentage, making childcare cheaper and affordable for everyone. All families need to do is checking that their income estimates are up to date with Centrelink so the CCS will automatically update.

  • The maximum amount of CCS is increasing form 85 % to 90% for all families earning up to $80,000
  • The income limit for CCS is increasing to $530,000
  • If you earn over $80,000 your CCS percentage will go down by 1% for each $5000 your family earns.
  • If you have two children under the age of 5, you will still receive a higher subsidy for one or more of your children.
