Physical Education News

Cross Country:

Term 2 is set to be a busy, action packed term. Already we have held the House Cross Country event which was a fun filled morning for all involved. The Years 3 to 6 students all participated and ran around the paths and tracks of Nettleton Park. An enormous congratulations to all students who walked and ran the 2 and 3 km courses - plenty of rosy red cheeks and cheering each other on. Congratulations to the top 10 of each age group who have been invited to compete at the Glen Iris District event on the 23rd May 2023. We wish everyone the best of luck.

This term in Physical Education:

This term we are learning more about Net and Wall sports through Volleystars and Volleyball as well as solidifying our catching and throwing skills in games like Netball and Touch Rugby. Skipping is also featuring this term and will be preparing all students for a fun House based event later in the year so dust off your ropes at home and get skipping!

Running Club:

A reminder that Running Club is beginning week 2 on Tuesday mornings at school. Students should wear their PE uniform or their Running Club t-shirt (available for purchase). They must get changed into their PE uniform before going to their first lesson. Parents, please feel free to join us running around our school based course and taking part in our fitness based games.

Team Vic Elite Pathways:

An exciting opportunity has opened up for Year 5 and 6 boys to trial for the first ever Team Vic U12 Boys only Netball team. Registrations for the trials are due by 31st May 2023 so please contact Mrs Aldcroft as soon as possible if you are interested. No actual netball experience is required.

All information for Team Vic representative teams can be found at https://www.ssv.vic.edu.au/team-vic for others who play at an elite level. Parents must contact both Mrs Aldcroft and Mr McKenna prior to applying online for any trials, providing achievements and teams played in. Please be aware that all applicants must be of an elite/representative team standard currently and be aware the school can only endorse a limited number of participants.

If your child participates in a sport at a high level and you would like to let us know of their achievements, please email to kaldcroft@scgleniris.catholic.edu.au

Katherine Aldcroft (PE Teacher)
