ANZAC Day Ceremony

Today the College was privileged to welcome back Old Boy Mr Scott Warr (’81). Scott gave the ANZAC Day address after being introduced to the community by his schoolmate and College Head of TAS Faculty, Mr Andrew Viney.

Scott spent 22 years in the Armed Forces and has had a stellar career.  Having left the army in 2003, Scott has since worked for organisations such as Legacy and the RSL (NSW), both organisations dedicated to helping veterans.

Scott address resonated with the students as he talked about resilience, mateship, courage commitment and discipline.  All of these qualities are needed in modern day life.  Scott detailed the successes and failures on the battlefields, but his theme was constant

“Australian Service Men and Women are currently buried in 78 countries around the world. Countless others are interred at sea. It is their sacrifices that has given us the freedoms we are able to enjoy today. A democratic and free country where we have freedom of speech, we can have differing views without fear of persecution.  We are a multicultural and inclusive country full of opportunity and we encourage all to just “have a go”.

It was a very moving and appropriate speech given by a wonderful Old Boy.
