CHESS TOURNAMENT

On Tuesday 4th April, a group of students travelled to Brighton Grammar School to take part in an Inter-School Chess Tournament.  It was an extraordinary event, involving 241 students from 14 schools.

A big congratulations to one of our teams who placed 2nd. That’s 2nd place out of 39 teams! Congratulations to the following students who have already qualified to play in the State Final held later in the year: Jennifer Morrison, Michael Khamatgaleev, Nathan Stanford, Oliver Cordover and Warren Pak.

One of the members of that team – Oliver Cordover – won 3rd best chess player (and a trophy!) with 6.5 points out of 7 rounds.

Additionally, a special thanks to everyone who participated in the tournament: Aloysius Beare, Andrey Kostenko, Angad Singh Thakur, Ansgar Chan, Atalay Simsek, David Hollins, Dylan Holdsworth, Ethan Tio, Gavin Xu, Harvey Stroeder, Jennifer Mclaughlin, Jennifer Morrison, Leo Desovski, Michael Khamatgaleev, Nathan Stanford, Oliver Cordover, Patrick Stanford, Renny Thurlow, Samuel Ferguson, Tamia Jung and Warren Pak.
