Rugby League
On Tuesday 9th of May, twenty-five girls went across to Inverell to play in the Katrina Fanning Cup, Rugby League 9s competition. This day also included some passing drills and a safe tackle session. We were only able to put together a full U14s side to have a chance to progress in the competition. It was the first time playing tackle football for many of the U14s girls. They put up a good fight throughout the game, but unfortunately did not win in the game against McIntyre HS to progress to the next level. I am, however, very proud of the rapid improvement in their game as the girls played another couple of games against mixed McIntyre and Inverell HS teams.
The U16s and Open girls combined with Inverell HS and McIntyre teams to play a few games against O'Connor Catholic College. Unfortunately, this year, numbers are down in those age groups, so if you have been thinking about having a go at this growing women's sport, please put your name down for the next opportunity.
