Jump Rope for Heart

Jump Rope for Heart is a fantastic physical activity and fundraising program that has been run by the Heart Foundation for over 36 years. It’s a great way for your child to keep fit and learn new skills, but it also helps raise funds for vital heart research and education programs. Since Jump Rope for Heart started in 1983, schools like ours have raised more than $104 million for the Heart Foundation’s lifesaving work.

You do not have to fundraise if you do not wish, however, all students in Year 1-10 will still be participating. Students will be skipping throughout the term in PE lessons/during lunch breaks and some morning fitness sessions. During this time, you can share their online fundraising page with family and friends to help raise money for this great cause.

Many of us as parents are concerned about what it says to our kids if we allow them to quit activities after only a little while. We worry that it teaches them that money grows on trees, that persistence doesn’t matter and that giving up when things are hard is fine. We worry that allowing them to hold those beliefs teaches them that they’re a precious snowflake and the world ought to bend to them, not the other way around.
