Song writing Prize for Red Cliffs Student

Raya Robb has won 3rd Place in the 7-8 category of the ACMF's 2021 National Song

writing Competition for the composition 'Holiday Time.'

Raya wrote a seasonal song, which paints the picture of what it is like growing up in the Mallee around Christmas time. The song was inspired by a family friend and former Red Cliffs student Lucas Barrow, who wrote his own version of this song many many years ago, but Raya re-created it to reflect her own memories.  She also was awarded $500 that can be used towards pursuing her interest in music.

Congratulations to Raya on her success.

An Open Letter from the Deputy Premier/ Education Minister and Minister for Health

Dear Red Cliffs Secondary College community,

RE: Thank you for supporting school pop-up vaccination clinics

We are writing to thank the Red Cliffs Secondary College community, and other school communities like yours which helped more than 34,000 people to receive their COVID-19 vaccinations in familiar school settings.

The Victorian Government’s school pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinics were held in 70 schools, each making their facilities available and championing the communities’ efforts to get vaccinated.

The success of events such as these are heavily reliant on the support and participation of school communities. We write to thank each and every Red Cliffs Secondary College community member that contributed to making the pop-up vaccination clinic a success.

It is no exaggeration to say that through your hard work, dedication and commitment in supporting the school pop-ups, the lives of thousands of Victorians have been protected.

Once again, our deepest thanks.

The Hon. Martin Foley, Minister for Health

The Hon. James Merlino, Minister for Education

Vaccination requirements for parents and carers attending schools

Parents and carers who enter school buildings must check in using the QR code.

Parents and carers who enter school buildings must also have had at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine and must have had two doses of COVID-19 vaccine by 29 November 2021 or have a valid medical exception, with the following limited exceptions:

  • when attending to administer medical treatment to their own child when the treatment cannot be administered by the school
  • when attending to collect their child who is unwell and cannot leave the school building unaccompanied by their parent/carer.
  • when attending for a momentary period that does not involve any sustained contact with staff or students, for example, to collect or hand in paperwork, or similar.

Parents and carers attending any event or activity inside a school building including are required to show evidence of vaccination.

Meetings and other discussions (such as Student Support Group meetings) with parents and carers who do not meet vaccination requirements should be held virtually (online or via phone).
