Boronia Group

Yvonne, Alyson, Beena and Julie

Our return to Livingston Kindergarten this term was staggered due to initial COVID restrictions in place. Midway through the term, all Boronia Group children returned to Kindergarten. It has been wonderful to see how resilient the children have become and how intrigued, inquisitive and inquiring they are becoming in their play and learning.

Spring, at the start of the term, allowed for us to explore flowers blooming and new leaves forming on our trees in the yard. The children have continued to take on the challenging obstacle courses – developing their spatial awareness and gross motor skills.

We have had time to investigate and explore learning about nature around us – observing the caterpillars grow and change into butterflies. ‘Clarissa’, the rabbit and her kittens (baby Rabbits) came to the kindergarten. The children in the group had the opportunity to observe how they eat the various vegetables, hop around and drink water. Boronia group took the opportunity to name the rabbits and were very excited when we were able to hold the little ones.

We took time to create café menus which lead to discussions about ‘eating’ the colours of the rainbow. Our large group rainbow encouraged children to take turns to paint the various colours. The children have begun to enjoy simple board games, playing in small groups, creating and initiating games with each other. The warmer weather outside leads to adventures in the mud pit, dry rock creek and water trays. The puppet show and our end of term concert are up and coming highlights for our Boronia children.

Housekeeping pieces:

-The group concert is on at 12.30pm, December 10th. We will do a few songs and then the children can have a short play outside for the remainder of the session. Some children can find participating in this overwhelming and may choose not to.

-We will have a party in the last week of term and kinder will provide the food for this, due to allergies etc.

-Please don’t forget to check your children’s bags have spare clothing that is weather appropriate and still fits (in case of growth spurts).

Bye for now, Yvonne, Alyson, Beena and Julie.
