Principal's Report

Term 4

After more than a year, our students, staff and school community members are now enjoying a “Covid” normal environment.

Our students are now able to enjoy excursions, incursion and camps.  Unfortunately many of our planned school events have not be possible throughout 2021 but we are excited to say that our students will be able to learn new skills as the Circus Skills Program for all levels will be conducted during their Physical Education classes in coming weeks.

Many thanks to Deb O’Brien who has persisted with the task of many ongoing date changes, but it is finally going to occur.

Excursion to Werribee Zoo

Our year 1 students enjoyed an amazing day at the Werribee Zoo on Monday.

We were the first school to visit the zoo since lockdown and we had the entire zoo to ourselves.  Our staff reported that the staff employed by Werribee Zoo were thrilled to have people back on sight after so many months.

Don't miss seeing the two amazing videos of the Year 1 students at the Werribee Zoo on the Year 1 page.

Prep Transition

It was wonderful having our 2022 Preps at school today.  This is the first time since 2019 that this has been able to occur with all new preps onsite at once.

The children had a lovely time in the Prep Classroom enjoying a variety of activities. They also spent some time with the Year 6 Captains.

I would like to thank all of the staff who prepared this activity.  The rain did not help Annie in the Uniform shop.  Based on the wet weather it was not practical to take out the 2 racks of second hand apparel and 5 boxes of second hand bags and hats etc that Annie had prepared. This “pop up” shop will be available at our next Prep Transition morning.

Remembrance Day

Today the Year 6 students conducted our Remembrance Day Service.  Our students from Years 3- 6 attended the service along with the parents of the students presenting the service.

Unfortunately due to current restrictions we were unable to include our entire student population.  Our students in Prep-Year 2 viewed the service via Webex together with parents unable to attend onsite due to current restrictions.

Where Are They Now?

We often wonder what our ex-students are doing now.  The children in Year 3 witnessed firsthand what one of our ex-students is doing now.  The students and staff enjoyed a concert from Jess Ball.

Jess discovered her passion for singing when she joined our school choir when she was in year 3.  It was also at this time that she started writing her own songs.  She studied singing and music performance at high school and then in 2019 she joined a production company ‘1&2 Productions’ where she has collaborated with world renowned DJ’s.

In June 2021 she released her first solo song ‘Upside Down’ and has recently released her second solo song ‘Thank You’.   She is looking forward to releasing her first solo album early in 2022.

Yesterday Jess performed “Thank You” and “Upside Down” – both of which she wrote. Many of the Year 3 students joined Jess and they performed the song ‘Upside Down’ together.

Please see these videos on the Year 3 page.

Swimming Prep-Year 3

The swimming program for students in Prep to Year 3 will recommence next week thanks to Kirsty Hall, who has organised this program.

Later in the term our Year 6 students will be able to participate in the Beach Program.

Things are finally beginning to feel like a normal school week at Beaumaris North Primary school.

Year 6 Camp

Anticipation and excitement is clearly evident in our Year 6 students as they head off to Camp on Monday. This is such a special time for our students and their teachers as it will be the first Camp they have attended since Year 4.  The disappointment of missing their Year 5 camp will be forgotten when they finally board the bus for camp-masks and all.  We wish everyone a wonderful camp at Philip Island and look forward to hearing about this special activity.
