School Information

Grade Structure 2022

Our structure for 2022 will be as follows:

English/Spanish teaching teams

4 x F/1 Teams

3 x 2/3 Teams

2 x 4-6 Teams

Additional to these teams we will be implementing several additional aspects to support students and teachers, to provide high quality learning across the school.

  • We have appointed Jess and Graeme as our Leading teachers to support teaching teams.
  • We will be providing targeted tutor support for students.
  • The 2022 school year will see further classroom support provided through the employment of classroom aides.

Classroom teacher appointments

As mentioned in a previous newsletter, teachers will be allocated to grades by the end of November, when our processes have been completed according to DET policies.

We will inform the community through the newsletter. This will be followed by our transition program where students will meet their 2022 teacher and classmates.

'Be Creative' Day

Friday 3rd December will be an exciting day for all of us. Everyone is invited to put the blue and yellow away for the day and "Be Creative" in what they wear to school on the day. The only things we ask are that everyone beings a 'Sunsmart' hat on the day and wears shoes which cover their toes.

This day is being organised to support the Grade 6 students to enjoy one of their last days at primary school (The Big Day Out). You can help them have a wonderful experience with their friends and teachers by making a gold coin donation on "Be Creative" Day.

COVID Update

As we can now celebrate the removal of many COVID restrictions, I do need to inform the community that the removal of restrictions do not apply to primary schools. The main reason is the fact that primary students under 12 years of age are not vaccinated. Restrictions continue to include the wearing of masks onsite.

Out of School Hours Care [OOSHC] - 2022

To all parents, current and future, we understand many of you are currently on a waiting list for a placement in the 2022 OOSHC program. We  have submitted a request to the appropriate government authority to have our placement/enrolments significantly increased for 2022. However I do need to inform the community that we have currently limited space to provide the program, and increasing the enrolment to accommodate more places is very difficult at this time. We are at maximum classroom to enrolment ratio as a school, we have no extra space for the program, and will need to access several classrooms after hours to support our families.

We believe we will have a response to request in the next couple of weeks. Once we have received a response to our request we will inform the community.
