Wheeler Centre OutLoud Teen Slam Final

Our Year 8 NHS Slam champions from earlier this year, Eve Feng and Lee Pennefather, entered their winning performance poems via video to the Wheeler Centre Out Loud Secondary Slam Heats and thrillingly got through to the finals!  There were 11 finalists from 7 schools across Victoria and the calibre of the poetry was impressive. The judge Luka Lesson would have certainly had a tough job deciding on the winners. 

We are thrilled to inform you that Eve received a commendation for her poem and Lee took out the overall award!  Big congrats to them both!  Both Eve and Lee have been awarded a free spot in Luka Lesson’s incredible seven-week poetry course. I am so pleased that they can further their interest in poetry by working with one of the most brilliant voices in contemporary Australian poetry! 

Lee Pennefather will now perform their poem live at the Wheeler Centre Teen Gala - Thursday 11 November 6.30pm.  This is also a digital event and free bookings can be made here:  https://www.wheelercentre.com/events/teen-gala
