Student Services Wellbeing

Almost back to “normal”

It has been fabulous to finally welcome everyone back on site. Schools aren’t meant to be empty -the chatter of voices and seeing everyone out and about during lunchtime and recess has been wonderful. The wellbeing team are available to support students wellbeing physically, socially and emotionally, in a face-to-face capacity, adhering to COVID guidelines. Our M11 room is a COVIDSafe space, with outdoor air ventilation, regular cleaning of high touch surfaces, density limits adhered to and frequent hand hygiene by all staff and students.

Pets of M11 - introducing Charlie

Hi, my name is Charlie and I belong to Julia in M11. I am a toy cavoodle and my 2nd birthday is coming up on December 16th. I loved having my family home all the time during lockdown but don’t mind laying in the sun and sleeping all day now that they are back at work. My favourite things to do are chase balls, meet new fur friends and get pats from anyone walking past. My mum has spoken of getting me brother, a golden retriever, I hope that means that I don’t lose all the attention.

Focus on kindness

Evidence shows that promoting kindness among young people directly reduces bullying and disruptive behaviour and helps to increase social and emotional wellbeing. Each day we can act kindly and be the change we want to see in the world. Kindness on an individual level can:

  • improve mental health and overall wellbeing
  • reduce stress
  • improve self-esteem
  • increase peer acceptance
  • generate feelings of gratitude and happiness.
