Student Reports

Your child's Student Learning Summary (report) for Semester 2 will be sent home this Friday 10th December via Compass. This document will provide you with an overview of  your child's achievement in terms of knowledge and skill in each key learning area and their level of engagement; the degree of attention, curiosity and interest they show when learning.

The language used to describe the level of knowledge and skills demonstrated by each child is:

  • Working at the expected level of achievement
  • Working beyond the expected level of achievement (this is split into two sections, working beyond and working well beyond the expected level)
  • Working towards the expected level of achievement (this is split into two sections, working towards and working well below the expected level)

Writing

Last week, Stage 1 learnt all about the structure and grammatical features of Narratives (imaginary stories).  Take a look below at one sample writing piece:

The Mystery Box
Yesterday, I was at school and I was the only only there, that made me the lucky one!  Suddenly, someone knocked on the door. I rushed to the door and all I saw was a box covered in brown paper.  It was addressed to me!

I quickly sprinted to get the scissors to open it but when I got back it wasn't there.
"I swear it was right here!" I shouted.  I looked around the classroom and I found it under a table.  "You cheeky thing," I said, but then all of a sudden it started copying everything I said.
"You cheeky thing," said the box as well.   Then I started to wonder who gave it to me...maybe my friends?
"Alright, I'm going to open you," I said, "Nah-ha."  Then it ran away again!

Merry Christmas 🎄

It is difficult to believe that the end of the 2021 school year is almost upon us.  As this is the final  newsletter, I would like to acknowledge and thank Mrs Hanes and  the wonderful St Joseph’s staff for their efforts throughout the year; they are dedicated to ensuring the children receive the best education in a supportive learning environment.  Sadly, we bid a fond farewell Mrs McManus and Mrs McNeill, we thank them for their dedication and all they have contributed to St Joseph's throughout the years.

Wishing you all a merry Christmas and happy new year.  I hope you have a wonderful, safe festive season with family and friends.
