Classroom Reports

Foundation & One

Ahoy there me Hearties! Our Late Stay on Thursday saw the F-2 students attending Pirate School.  Captains Blackbeard, Curly, Pete and Long Silver taught the lads and lassies a few pirate skills. Once we all had our pirate names, hats and patches we searched the seven seas for the booty.  Yo, Ho, Ho! It was hidden in the sandpit. By the end of the night we were Old Salts. Our Foundation children deserted ship for home and the Grade Ones hoisted the Jolly Roger to sail to a place to eat our BBQ tea and get ready for the Disco. There were no whale sightings but lots of singing and dancing. We would have liked to be marooned on the island for the night like the Grade Twos, but we set sail for home.

Special thanks to Annette Hunt, Trina Vaughan and Mr Lockhart for all your help.

On the Year Two excursion we went to the old general store. We saw Miss McKay and there was an old piano that makes you pedal. Then we went to the Community House and saw the library and an old classroom. We had morning tea under a tree. Then we went to Hard Hill and climbed a big hill. Then Jacka Park for fish and chips. My favourite part of the late stay was actually the sleepover and going on the night walk. I could barely get to sleep because I couldn’t stop thinking about my baby brother. When we went to the big kid’s playground on our night walk, we heard an owl up in the really tall trees. We were going to go into the bush but there were too many mosquitoes landing on us so we went back in and got in our sleeping bags and started to fall asleep. In the morning when I woke up we had breakfast and went on our excursion.  By Brax

I liked the disco because there were lots of people. The BBQ was so yummy that I could eat two. There were bossy pirates and fun games! I didn’t want to go home. By Marlow

My favourite thing was the disco because the lights were changing colours! Then I loved the dancing and the games. The games I liked the best was the game where two people had a fishing rod and had to get as many fish as you can. I also liked being a pirate because I made a map and we ate chocolate coins. By Lucas

I loved the disco because my favourite thing was the dancing. I loved the limbo because I stayed in there for a long time. By Jackson

My favourite part was the excursion. We went to lots of places like Skinners, Old General Store, Community House, Hard Hill and Jacka Park. By Jye

On the sleepover we all got our mattresses and sleeping bags out and we all got to sleep at around midnight. Except for Kobe who got to sleep as soon as his head hit the pillow. The next day we ate breakfast and got into the buses. I was in a bus with Kobe, Gabbie, Noah, Harlem and Ariah. Mrs Mac drove our bus and Trina drove the other. Our first stop was the Old General Store Museum where half of the shop made you feel like you were in the 1800s. We got the play the organ and went to the cellar and got to see where the post was delivered. By Elizabeth

Kyabram Fauna Park Excursion

Last Wednesday the Year 7 and 8 students travelled by bus to Kyabram Fauna Park. This excursion provided students with an insight into different habitats and interactions. Students in Year 7 have been learning about food webs, adaptations, biotic and abiotic factors in ecosystems. This excursion provided students with a hands-on lesson that included a large carpet python and a shingleback lizard. The teacher was able to show the students how animals are classified and a food web hierarchy in the Kyabram Fauna Park. Students loved seeing the meerkats. The park also had koalas, kangaroos, peacocks, tasmanian devils, emus, wombats and echidnas. There was even a bee swarm hanging in one of the trees.
