Dear Members of the Academy Community,

At the time of writing this newsletter, our Year 12 students are undertaking their final exams and I am pleased to say that all is going smoothly and students are coping well with this stressful period. We look forward to formally farewelling our Year 12 students at the Graduation scheduled to take place on Thursday 17 November 2022.  This Graduation in November will be the first time since 2019 that we will be able to farewell our students just after their examination period.

The cycle of life continues and we are looking forward to welcoming to the Academy our new Year 7s and their parents at next week’s Year 7 Information Evening.  Again it has been a number of years since this was held in person and onsite.  We are eager to know our new parents and journey with them and their daughters over the next six years – the Year 7s of 2023 – the Year 12s of 2028.

This evening is only one component of our very extensive transition program for our future Year 7 students and their families.  Students will return to the College for the Year 7 Orientation Day on Tuesday 6 December to undertake various transition activities.  When they come back to school in for the beginning of the 2023 school year, there will be further transition activities which will culminate with the Year 7 Camp.

The end of the year is fast approaching but we have much to look forward to including the Orientation week for our Senior Students, the end of year Assembly and College Mass, and of course the Celebration of Excellence evening.

We were saddened to hear of the death of Sr Mary Dennett. Sr Mary was a past pupil of the Academy and then rejoined the college as a teacher. She was always supportive of her Alma Mater and ever ready to assist us, especially in the area of the Mercy story and the Academy’s history.

May Sr Mary now Rest In Peace.

Every blessing,

All Saints Day

We give you thanks, O God,
for all the saints who ever worshipped you
whether in brush arbours or cathedrals,
weathered wooden churches or
crumbling cement meeting houses
Where your name was lifted and adored.
We give you thanks, O God, for hands lifted in praise:
manicured hands and hands stained with grease or soil,
strong hands and those gnarled with age
holy hands used as wave offerings across the land.
We thank you, God, for hardworking saints;
whether hard-hatted or steel-booted,
head ragged or aproned,
blue-collared or three-piece-suited
they left their mark on the earth for you, for us,
for our children to come.
Thank you, God, for the tremendous sacrifices made
by those who have gone before us.
Bless the memories of your saints, God.
May we learn how to walk wisely from their examples of
faith, dedication, worship, and love.

Amen
