Student Learning

Foundation

In reading, the students have learnt the 'ir', 'ur' and 'er' digraph. They have also looked closely at their books to identify the different traits of each character.

In writing, the students worked really hard on publishing their narratives. They have produced some amazing work and should be really proud. They have already begun work on their second narrative, this time looking deeper at the characters traits, the problem and interesting ways they can solve the problem.

In maths they have focused on ordering numbers from smallest to biggest. They have also learnt to double numbers to help with their addition and subtraction.

In sport, there were smiles all round as the students learnt how to play tennis. They started off slowly with bean bags but as their skills developed so did their confidence.

In Art, Foundation students made their own orange textured paper which they then turned into 3D Jack 'o Lantern pumpkins.

Year 1/2

During Readers Workshop students have been doing 'Turn and Talk'....which involves them sharing successful analysing of subtitles.

This term the 1/2 students have been analysing the author Nick Bland's craft and have been writing a story inspired by his books. They celebrated their stories by sharing with each other and some even shared with the 5/6 students. they received fantastic feedback!

In Art students have enjoyed making houses for their Halloween pumpkins.

Year 3/4

The 3/4's have been busy focusing on the revision of shape units they have studied so far in maths. Students have been working through vaults to refresh their memory and test their knowledge in units such as length, area and measurement.

In Art the Year 3/4 students used a blending technique with oil pastels to create some spooky eyeballs!

Year 5/6

Students have been working very hard to improve their spelling. During lessons students have the opportunity to work on their spelling words using a learning method that suits them. This may include creating a word waterfall, or a picture including their spelling words, or writing their words many times over.

In Art the Year 5/6 students worked with a partner and had fun creating paper cone witches for Halloween.
