Transitioning to High School

I wanted to share a flyer for a free upcoming session on transition that is being hosting for parents, carers and young people on Tuesday 6th December, 7 - 8.30pm online.

Kate Wilde from the human development Workshop will be facilitating the session, so it’s sure to be a great one.

The webinar will cover how to get ready for secondary school:

-          The 'easy' stuff - routines, public transport, homework and more.

-          The 'tricky' stuff - friends, bullying, anxiety and more.

A Parent/Carer only session will be available for the last 30 minutes on managing technology, anxiety and supporting your child’s resilience.

Movember

During November, the St James lads will be raising funds and awareness this Movember for all the dads, brothers, sons and mates in our lives but we need your help.

Dave Mutimer, James Sweatman, Josh Crowe, Tim Flintoff and Daniel Egan have started the month clean shaven and will slowly grow out their magnificent mos over the course of the month.

If you'd like to donate to this worthy cause, visit our team page at: https://movember.com/t/st-james-manly-mo-men?mc=1

As of 17/11/22, we are already at $765! Thanks to all donors  for your generous contributions.

Victorian Child Safety Standards

The new 11 Victorian Child Safe Standards came into effect on Friday 1 July 2022.

In July 2021, the Victorian Government announced new Child Safe Standards (CSS) to further strengthen child safe environments and protect children from abuse.

From 1 July 2022, 11 new child safety standards have replaced the seven previous Child Safe Standards (and principles) which had been in place since 2016. For more information on these Standards, please visit: https://ccyp.vic.gov.au/child-safe-standards/the-11-child-safe-standards/

Here is the Catholic Education Council of Victoria's revised statement of commitment to Child Safety which we abide by:

In late 2021, ParentZone launched a series of parenting podcasts called ParentZone Pods on sibling rivalry, dealing with anxiety, family meetings, getting your children to listen, how to stop yelling at your kids, and how to respond to kids’ behaviour. Due to the success of these podcasts, Anglicare has decided to create another series in 2022. So, watch this space for more helpful topics to aid in your parenting!
