BMGS Tennis – Round 3

The good thing about the ISA tennis competition is that there are only four schools participating. All teams are at the same courts each week, and so we are beginning to get to know each other.

This time it was our turn to host, with Lithgow being our 'home' courts. The locals were very happy to see us, and we were happy to see the sunshine. This week our opposition was Kinross Wolaroi, Orange.

We knew that we were going to have it tougher this week as tennis is a favourite sport in Orange, and they have many good players. Our Odds team started well, with Jesse and David, and Hugo and Jed winning their doubles. David and Jed continued this in their singles. Our other competitors, Raph and Otto, played well but were outclassed on the day. Overall, the Odds team lost 12 sets to 8, their first loss for the season.

This week, we had our number two ranked player with us. We welcome Tien to our Evens Team. Whilst he lost in the doubles, he had a win in the singles, showing good form. We tried different doubles combinations again this week with Eladie and Tien pairing up, Alex and Marlowe, and Lee and Noah (pictured above). Whilst unsuccessful, they still enjoyed their games and continued to learn. Overall, the Evens team lost 17 sets to 2.

We will be travelling to Orange again this weekend to play against St Stanislaus. Let’s hope our Year 8s won’t be too tired from camp!

Boys' Touch Football

BMGS Junior boys vs Central Coast Grammar School

Playing their first home game of the season, the Junior Boys' Touch team rose to the occasion and defeated their opponent in a close 5-3. The boys worked hard and maintained a positive attitude, building eachother up as a team and playing with good sportsmanship. Congratulations to the player of the game, Keedan, who scored three tries and later assisted the senior boys in their game.

BMGS Senior Boys vs Redlands

Despite a strong first game, the Senior Touch boys were quickly reminded of the harsh reality of playing with only one reserve. They were outnumbered and, unfortunately, outplayed on the day, however with the help of Keedan from the Junior side, the team was able to pull together and play a convincing second half. The boys are commended on their efforts, and encouraged to continue to put effort and heart into both training and their games.
