Education in Faith

Catholic Social Teaching in St Cecilia's

As we prepare for the season of Advent and Chirstmas we aim to keep in mind a bigger picture of what this special time is about and how our faith life can impact the world around us, particularly in relation to Catholic Social Teaching.

Catholic Social Teaching principles (CST) cover all spheres of life

- the economic, political, personal and spiritual.

The principles are inspired by scripture and the writings of the Pope

and other Catholic leaders about social issues.

Human Dignity  -   Everyone is special.
Common Good  -  What is best for everyone?
Solidarity  -  We are one big family.
Subsidiarity  -  All people should have a say!
Participation  -  We all want to contribute to our communities.
Care for our Common Home  -  We are part of and need to care for creation.
Preferential for the Poor  -  Some people need extra help.

We look for pathways as a community of faith to live out these principles in concrete ways as we head towards Advent and Christmas

and will explore them in more depth as a school in 2023.
