Principal's message

Dear Parents/Carers,

YEAR 3 2023 BRING YOUR OWN DEVICE

Students from Years 3-6, under our current policy bring their own device to school. Many of you already have devices but if you are considering your options we will be sending the specifications to you this week to ensure the most cost effective way that you can organise this. At the beginning of the 2023 school year we will outline a safe practice procedure which identifies with our school ICT policy.

REMEMBRANCE DAY 2022

Remembrance Day is a day to commemorate the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and of civilians in times of war, since the First World War. It is observed on 11th November to recall the end of World War I on that date in 1918. Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice. The day was dedicated by King George 5th, on 7 November 1919, to the observance of members of the armed forces who were killed during war. We remember and acknowledge the sacrifices made by all Australians at war on this day. The JSC will be conducting a Remembrance Day ceremony at 10.30am on Friday 11th November 2022 in the Gym. This ceremony will replace the usual afternoon assembly.

REAL SCHOOLS PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT

What a great turn out of parents on Monday night to hear about our partnership with ‘Real Schools.’ One of the key points raised was the restorative nature of student reflection. We have been following this approach for many years but it is further developed as part of the ‘Real Schools’ program. Students develop an understanding of their behaviours and how they can ultimately respond in a positive manner. Teachers have been working on ‘affective statements’ which provide emotive responses for children to feel intrinsically rewarded for their positive behaviours. If you have any questions please raise them with your child's teacher. We are commencing a strong partnership with ‘Real Schools’ and it includes input from home. A consistent message for children is crucial to their understanding and ownership of their behaviours.

COVID & OTHER ILLNESSES

Please keep a close eye on your children in the coming weeks. You may know that Covid is becoming more common again in certain areas. If your child is unwell, please test and keep them home until they are better.
