Commitment to a bullying free environment

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

St Philip’s College is committed to creating and maintaining an environment that is free from bullying, harassment, and violence.

Our first aim is to prevent the occurrence of bullying, harassment or violence by developing an inclusive and respectful culture, educating students and families about what bullying looks like, sounds like and feels like, and encouraging 'upstanders' in our community instead of 'bystanders'.

Our second aim is to respond in an effective and fair manner to any incidents of bullying, harassment or violence.

A key part of the College's bullying prevention and intervention strategy is to encourage reporting of bullying incidents by informing students and families about what to do if they observe or experience bullying.

We provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals to share any concerns which may arise. We provide appropriate assistance and support to all parties through the provision of pastoral care and wellbeing services, including counselling, AIEW support and restorative practices.

At the completion of our investigation into any reported incident, we will contact the affected students and families and explain the outcome of the incident.

We know that some people cannot ‘see’ what is happening as a result of an incident, but we want to reassure you that when we are made aware of an incident, action is always taken, but we do not share confidential information with the rest of the college community to protect the privacy of the involved parties.
