Principal's Patch

Dear Parents and Carers

How nice to finally have some sunshine!

The fine weather has allowed the builders to make some significant progress on our new building. Internal defects have been identified and are being rectified. Landscaping and exterior finishes are well underway and the outside of the building is really starting to take shape! Work is continuing in the area near the oval and also the carpark on Townson Avenue. The builders are expecting about another 6 - 7 weeks of work, fine weather permitting!

SENIOR STRINGS GOLD AWARD

Congratulations to our Senior Strings Ensemble for recently receiving a Gold Award at Fanfare at Currumbin SS. Thank you to our strings teacher Mrs Chandler and also to Ms Carter for accompanying the students on the day.

REPORT CARDS

Teachers are currently very busy finalising assessments for Semester 1 report cards. Report cards will be e-mailed home on Thursday 23rd June (Thursday week 10).

SCHOOL REVIEW

Every Queensland state school is reviewed by the Education Improvement Branch (EIB) at least once every four years. The reviews play an important part in how the department supports school improvement. They provide schools with independent feedback, tailored to their context and needs. Our school is scheduled for a whole school review from 16th to 18th August 2022 (Week 6, Term 3).

We will provide more information about the review process as it draws nearer.

WINTER UNIFORM

I have had several parents ask me recently about winter uniform. As the cooler temperatures have arrived, please find below reminders about our winter uniform expectations:

  • Completely navy jumpers/jackets only (choices are available at the Uniform shop) with no logos etc
  • Girls are not permitted to wear leggings on their own! School skort/shorts must be worn over the top of them and navy leggings/tights are required.
  • Please name all jumpers and tracksuit pants (basically anything that can be removed as the day warms up)
  • Shoes must be all black shoes only. Shoes with white and/or other colours do not meet our school uniform policy.

CARPARK SAFETY

Ensuring the safety of our students is our highest priority. I recently met with our state member Mr Michael Hart and during our meeting we discussed some safety concerns received from community members around our school.  Please remember to keep our students safe, when exiting the’ kiss and go’ carpark on 19th Avenue it is a left turn only.

ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

Due to not currently having an oval, we are exploring different possibilities for our upcoming athletics carnival. When a plan is finalised, details will be sent to families so please keep your eye out.

Go Queensland!!!!

Kind Regards

Scott
