Junior Report (1/2)
Wominjeka from the BLOSSOM COMMUNITY - Jordan, Eda, Amber, Ashley, Sean, Kat, Sharon
The Junior Community has moved into the brand new Blossom Learning Space. The students are enjoying the new space and settling into their new classrooms, making new social connections in their classes. We have been setting expectations for our year of learning and setting up routines that will set us up for success.
Transitioning and setting up routines in a very new school space was a tricky thing to develop in our first week of school. The Blossom facility unfortunately does not allow for a lot of space between classrooms, which we found out in our first few days together. Adult and student congestion impacted the orderly and calm entry and exit routines we know are so important in keeping our students feeling safe and in control. We appreciate our family support in allowing our Junior students to independently walk into and out of our Learning Community as much as possible to support the calm, orderly routines that support school readiness.
Students have been following and practising our classroom morning routines. They have been greeting their peers and teachers and lining up outside of their classrooms when they hear the music. When students enter the classroom, they unpack their bags, put all belongings into their lockers and join their classmates in their classroom circles in preparation for beginning their learning. Have a look at the photos below to see students following their morning routines!
In the Blossom Community we are working on what using our new toilet area looks like. The Gumnut building is a new toilet area for all of our grade 1 and 2s so we have been practicing our routine of:
We also now have a wonderful visual on all our doors to remind us of our toilet routine.
Students are developing their ‘Pride of Place’ by looking after their resources and helping to prepare their space for the next day of learning.
The students work as a team to follow a checklist before collecting their bags to leave:

JUNIOR SCHOOL REMINDERS: 'Black Book Bags' support our Reading Routines. Some students have not returned to school with their bag. If your child has this bag at home can you please send this to school. If you are unsure what this bag is, please communicate with your child's homeroom teacher who will assist.
