Under 15 Bill Turner Trophy Under 15 Girls Soccer success
On Friday the Girls' Under 15 Bill Turner Trophy team travelled to Inverell to play against Holy Trinity College in the Statewide knockout competition. The Holy Trinity community gathered and produced a wonderful atmosphere on the day, complete with banners and streamers. The McCarthy Girls were quickly into their stride, starting the game strongly and scoring two early and well constructed goals through great team play. The girls dominated possession and at half time led 5-0 with goals from Charli Manning, Anna George and Brooke Cashman. All of the girls played great games and contributed to a fine team effort. Charli Manning used her speed and skill to outplay her opponents and she was well supported by Mia Gentle, Lacey Palmer and Indiana Brazier. Confident defensive efforts at the back and some nice contributions from Sophie McMullen in goal kept Holy Trinity scoreless. The girls remained in control in the second half to run out 9-0 winners with Indianna Brazier and Anna George both netting hat-tricks. The game was played in great spirit and Holy Trinity kept trying throughout the game and proved worthy opponents.
Thank you to Mr Ryan Saban for driving the bus and coaching the girls. Also thank you to Miss Paige Berthold for assisting on the day. The girls progress to Round 2 and will have the opportunity to play another game in the next few weeks.

Diocesan Tennis Trials
Representing McCarthy in the Tennis trials were Lleyton Villamoor, Jackson Medlock, Edward Bennett, Claudia Kenniff and Claire Taylor. Claudia and Clair started with singles against O’Connor. Both girls started strong and served well. Claudia had some fantastic rallies from the baseline, smashing a cross court forehand winning a crucial point, while Clair moved her opponent around the court. Claudia and Clair then had a tough battle in the doubles with the O’Connor girls coming out strong and finding the points from all over the court.
The girls finished the day with doubles against O’Connor having some great rallies from the baseline. The girls had a great day and showed terrific sportsmanship.
The boys started with Jackson Medlock playing singles against St Mary’s where he moved round the court well, making every point count and forcing his opponent to move quickly and think on his feet. Lleyton Vilamoor came out strongly against his opponent from St Mary's getting the points early, serving well and finishing the point off from the baseline. Edward Bennett and Jackson teamed up for the doubles with Jackson serving first where some good shots were produced around the court. Narrowly going down to St Mary’s.
In a match against an O'Connor opponent, Edward Bennett made a great shot and served well. There were a number of long rallies and Edward improved throughout the day. The next set began with Lleyton playing O’Connor. He served well and hit some great winners. All players did their best throughout the day and represented McCarthy with great sportsmanship and pride. A big thank you to Mrs Samantha Cox for taking the tennis team on the day and supporting our students.
