Camp

We are having an AMAZING time on Grade 6 Camp! Stay tuned for camp photos in the next newsletter.

Education Week

Last week was Education Week. The students had fun looking at pictures of schools from the past, practising old school cursive handwriting and designing a classroom for the future. It was great to have some visitors back to the school again!

Upcoming Fortnight

In reading sessions this fortnight, we will be focusing on the fluency strategies of 'emphasise certain words' and 'change the style and pace to reflect purpose'. We are about half way through our Reader's Notebook, The Girl from the Great Sandy Desert. Over the next couple of weeks we will continue to learn about the hardships Mana faced throughout her lifetime and the resourcefulness of the Walmajarri people.

We will continue to focus on information texts over the next couple of weeks in preparation for our Topic presentation. The students will be asked to choose a country and complete a research project including information about the weather, culture, natural attractions, natural disasters and cuisine. We are looking forward to perusing the many travel brochures that will become available.

In Mathematics, we will be starting our Patterns and Algebra unit. The students have completed a pre-test and been placed in groups that best meet their individual learning needs. This unit will be our last Fluid Grouping unit for Term 2.

Fire Education

On Monday in Week 7 we will have some visitors from the Bendigo Fire Station come to our school. The 5/6 students will be doing some learning and preparation around fire safety beforehand. We have been asked to provide families with the below attachment prior to their visit.
