Parent / Teacher Interviews

It was wonderful to see so many parents / caregivers attend the onsite Parent / Teacher interviews which occurred in Week 3. Staff were able to share an insight with families about how their child was tracking in their subjects, as well as emotionally and socially. I had the privilege of meeting and speaking with so many parents, who provided some very valuable feedback regarding how their child was progressing at school. Additionally, some provided ideas of different events / extra-curricular activities that could be incorporated and offered by the College.

Of course, if for some reason you were not able to attend the offered interview times, you are welcome to contact your child’s subject teacher, via SEQTA DM, to arrange an alternative date / time.

NAPLAN Testing – Weeks 4 and 5

Congratulations to our Year 7 and Year 9 students for completing NAPLAN. Staff were very impressed with the way students prepared for, and completed, the various tests which included Numeracy, Reading, Writing and Spelling / Grammar. For students who were absent, catch-up days will continue for the remainder of Week 4. Although NAPLAN results provide a snapshot into how students are progressing, the collated data allows staff to revise programs and make any necessary adjustments to support student learning.

Uniform Guidelines

Our uniform is unique to our College and when worn correctly, sets a standard illustrating who we are. I would like to remind our Middle Years community that students should now be wearing the correct winter uniform, as stated in our Uniform Policy. It is very clear in the policy (which can be found on our website) about what is to be worn. We look forward to working as a team, with our families, in ensuring that students wear their correct uniforms to and from the College, on a daily basis. If for some reason your child is out of uniform, a note to their PC teacher is expected. Thank you for your ongoing support with this matter.

Camps / Excursions

Students in Year 8 are headed off to Grantville for their annual camp. The adventurous activities that students will take part in include canoeing, surfing, giant swing and a ‘leap of faith’. We look forward to sharing their experience with you in the next newsletter!

Year 9 students are off to the You Yangs as part of their ‘Rite Journey’ Commitment challenge. Not only will students need to challenge themselves to complete a Mountain Bike trail, but they will need to work in teams to complete a hiking challenge, as well as finding coordinates in a navigation challenge. Following this, students will share dinner together back at the College, so that they can all share their experience with each other!

Students Learning

Material Technology Elective with Mr Bava

Year 6 and Year 7 students were given a brief to design and develop a Tic Tac Toe Board game for their Trimester 1 project.

In Year 9 Wood Technology, students designed and created Lolly Dispensers for their project focus.
