Hi everyone – it’s been a strange few weeks with escalating infections, a federal election that came and quickly went, experimenting with normality, and looking to the future with gentle optimism.

Here are some grounding techniques for people of all ages. Grounding can help us be present in the here and now, and help us to return from feelings of fear, stress, anger or worry. We all need a moment to return to our bodies and stabilise.

During the day you can:

  • Pause to notice a smell, taste, temperature, a sensation in your body, the texture of an object
  • Press your feet and toes into your shoes, squeeze hard, and relax.
  • Count backwards from 10, or count your fingers quietly.
  • Push into a wall or doorway, press & release. Roll your shoulders backwards three times.
