Student Learning
Foundation
Reading: This week was National Simultaneous Storytime. The children loved listening to this year's book Family Tree by Josh Pyke. The students were also busy comparing fiction and non-fiction books. They were able to locate the features of a non-fiction text in their books.
Writing: The students have focused on revising their stories they have written. Using a green pencil, they added full stops and capitals to their work. The children have also learnt what a diagram is and labelled the features of an animal. They enjoyed learning and writing some interesting facts about their animal.
Maths: Using dominoes and playing cards, the children had fun writing and adding sums together.
Year 1/2
The Year 1/2 students have been learning how to write information reports. We have seen some fantastic reports written and students should be commended for their concentration and effort put into their reports.
Year 3/4
The grade 3/4s have been working hard on their 'Space' Information Reports.
Ella has chosen 'The Solar System' as her topic. She says "Saturn is the biggest planet with rings in our solar system."
Stephen has chosen the 'Universe' as his topic and says "a rocket needs to speed up to at least 17,800 miles per hour to ensure it doesn't get pulled back down to the ground when traveling to space."
Year 5/6
Students in the Year 5/6 area have been practising their skills and are very excited to be participating in this years winter sport competition against other schools. On Friday the football team and one netball team travelled to Nathalia Recreation Reserve to compete against Nathalia Primary School in our first away game.
Our first Winter Sport away trip was a successful one!
Football: CPS 9.4.58 defeated Nathalia PS 3.3.21
Netball: CPS 18 defeated Nathalia PS 15
Well done to our football players who were more than happy to fill in and help out by playing for Nathalia Primary School when they were short on players. Best on field for the day were Samuel and Ashtyn with both players getting their hands on the ball and hitting the scoreboard, with fantastic contributions from Chase, George, Reagan and Hulaif. Congratulations to all on a fantastic effort!
Well done to the CPS Netball team for their excellent display of sportsmanship, shaking hands with the opposition and thanking the umpire after the game without being asked, and then heading over to the football oval to support the team.
