Rainbow Space & IDAHOBIT  Day

On the 17th of May, Greensborough College held a celebration for IDAHOBIT Day – International Day against LGBTQ+ Discrimination.  In Junior CONNECT classes, students learned about how to support peers and watched some videos from LGBTQ+ youth and learned about their stories.  At lunchtime the school held a stall in the plaza with cupcakes, badges and pamphlets on offer.  The cupcakes were all quickly devoured by eager students with a range of badges distributed.  It was a day which helped break down stereotypes for students.

On the 24th of May, Tess from Minus 18 visited our lunchtime Rainbow Space for a Youth Empowerment Workshop.  Tess spoke about her experience growing up in country Western Australia and how she came to terms with her sexuality in a traditional environment.  She then discussed how students can be supportive of others in school.

Finally, students workshopped how they can show leadership qualities in our school community to help peers.  The Minus 18 incursion was a positive workshop which gave students some practical life advice.
