Should students wish, borrowing may also be done on Wednesdays at lunch by seeing Mrs Galvin.

A reminder that there are still many books overdue from term 1.

Children's Book Council of Australia

Shortlisted books for these prestigious awards have recently been announced.  We are fortunate that many of these books are already in our library and I look forward to sharing some of these.

The Secrets Of Magnolia Moon by Edwina Wyatt (Walker Books Australia) is the story of a girl who lives in a house with friendly stairs that 'talk' to her. She has to say goodbye to a friend who is moving house and is awaiting the arrival of a sibling. Whimsically written with good humour, this story is currently being shared with some of our Stage 2 students.

Premier's Reading Challenge

The Challenge is well equipped to support student participation from home. The following adjustments have been applied to the Challenge in 2020:

  • Students on all Challenge levels are able to read 10 choice books - an increase from five. The codes needed to add these choice books are 685957; 685958; 685959; 685960 and 685961.
  • Students on all Challenge levels will be able to include books on their reading records that they read collaboratively as a class, in person or online with their teacher or at home with their parents/carers.

All students have  their login details for the Challenge. Primary students are able to upload their own data. Students in Kinder and Stage 1 are able to keep a log and I will enter these when we are all able to return to school.

Parents of infants (K -2) students who wish to input their childs' books to the Challenge may do so and it will be appreciated.

While we now have two students who have completed the Challenge so far for this year; I look forward to seeing many others complete it shortly as many are only a few books off. With the changes made to adding Choice books, this chould happen a little more easily.

The Reading Challenge concludes 28th August.
