Principal’s Message

In my first newsletter of 2020, I outlined the wonderful things in store for us as we began a new decade.  It's hard to believe how quickly our circumstances have changed over the past few months. It has certainly been a challenging start to the year and now we are all starting to return to normal routines. With only four weeks left of school, the term is flying by.  It has been wonderful to have all the children back at school together again. We are reminding the students to wash and sanitize their hands regularly throughout the day.  Thank you to our parent community for supporting social distancing rules and remaining outside the school gates.  As soon as we can, we will invite you in for a tour of our new facilities.

In spite of our disrupted year (or perhaps because of it), it is important to remember our strong focus on faith, learning and community.  As a Catholic school community, we encourage our students to give their best effort and show kindness and respect for one another and the staff at all times.  We ask that you support us by reinforcing good manners, attitude and effort at home.  In the words of  St Mary MacKillop, who founded the Sisters of St Joseph, 'We must teach more by example, than by word'.

Today you will receive information about upcoming three way Learning Conferences which will be held in the last two weeks of the term.   Parents are invited to meet with their child and their teachers to discuss achievement and learning goals.  I encourage all parents to take part in this opportunity which replaces the usual end of Semester 1 parent teacher interview for 2020.

May God bless you,

Katie Hanes
