Principals' Message

A message from Alison and Lisa

Dear Parents/Carers,

NEW PRIMARY CAMPUS KISS AND DROP

We wish to to make all parents, carers and neighbours aware that we will be opening our new Primary campus Kiss and Drop from the Wongala Street entrance next Monday 29th June. This will mean the current practice of dropping and picking children up by car from the Hillvue Road access into the school play area will no longer be possible. There has been considerable planning over many months to have our Kiss and Drop at the stage it is now and we are confident it is the safest option for our students. This week we have been busy communicating how this new facility will operate via flyers, Facebook, Compass, meeting with neighbours and now our Newsletter, to ensure all those using the Kiss and Drop are fully informed and considerate of one another. We ask that all parents/carers adhere to the information and directions that have been provided and be patient with this new procedure. The safety of our students is paramount and we all need to work together to maintain this safety.

Please watch the following video as a quick reference...

Parent / Carer Code of Conduct

We ask that all parents and carers uphold a high level of courtesy and respect toward our staff. It is unacceptable for any of our staff to be spoken to or treated in a way that is rude and intolerable, especially our office staff who do a wonderful but difficult job managing the demands and requests of so many in our school community.

 Principal for a Day

Congratulations to Miss Molly Taylor who impressed the interviewing panel and was selected as the successful candidate to be Principal for a Day. Molly will carry out this role next Tuesday and we look forward to working with Molly and giving her an insight into a day in the life of a Principal. One of Molly's tasks will be writing the Principals' Message in next week's newsletter, so watch this space!

Student Reports

Next Thursday, we will be sending home a hard copy record of our learning conversations. It has been wonderful to see so many of our parents/carers engaging in these very worthwhile conversations around student learning.  We look forward  to working closely with our students, parents and carers in the future to ensure continued success in learning. Thank you to all our wonderful teachers and students for their fantastic preparation prior to our learning conversations.

Keeping Warm in Cold Weather

This week we have seen temperatures plummet as winter has well and truly set in. It has been very concerning therefore to note the number of students presenting at school without jumpers or jackets to stay warm, resulting in staff sourcing spares from clothing pool. This has bee particularly noticeable when wearing sport uniform. Please ensure your child has their jumper and /or jacket on in cold weather and that it is labelled clearly with their name.

Maintaining Safe Practices

We have all seen and heard stories of COVID-19 outbreaks in Melbourne and some schools in the past week. To this end we are very determined to not become complacent with the safety and health of our Staff and Students here at school. We continue to ask parents to respectfully wait outside our gates at drop off and pick up times to ensure we maintain a COVID-19 free environment.

Have a great weekend everyone and stay warm!
