Principal's Announcements

Welcome Back!
Welcome back to Term 4 everyone. It's hard to believe how quickly the year is going and we have a busy term ahead with lots going on. We wish the Gr 3's all the best on their camp to Bendigo which departs tomorrow.
Athletics
Congratulations to the Gr 3-6 students for taking part in the Interschool Athletics last week. I was particularly proud of the positive reports that have been passed on regarding our students and their sportsmanship and behaviour. Well done to the students who made it through to the division athletics on Monday. A special congratulations to Harry Brown (1st High Jump), Will McPhee (1st discus) Caden Ratcliffe (1st in hurdles) Bella Woods (2nd in 800m), and Max Elder (2nd in long jump), who have made it through to Regional level on Friday.
Prep Transition
It is always an exciting time of the year when the preps begin their transition program. They will join us for 3 afternoons in the the coming weeks, preparing them for school next year. The Gr 5 buddies are very excited to meet them!
New staff for 2019
We are very excited to announce that Mrs Michelle Hicks and Ms Lauren Calder will be taking on teacher roles at St Mary's next year. Michelle is a very experienced teacher and has been working at St Luke's Shepparton for many years. Lauren, also from St Luke's will be taking up a classroom teaching position as well as a curriculum leadership role within the school.
Parent Survey
Thank you to all parents who have completed the 2018 School Board Parent Survey. The survey plays a big part in our decision making each year and we are seeking feedback and ideas from our parent body. It is still open via Care Monkey for those yet to take part.
New Building Projects
We are very excited to announce that we are going to redevelop our tennis courts into a multipurpose sports area. The courts will be resurfaced with a synthetic base and include a basketball & netball court, a soccer pitch and T ball diamond. The area will also have a roof similar to the roof over our current basketball court.
We are also going to refurbish our administration area which includes a new sick bay, Principal's office, Board room and main entrance to the school. We hope that both projects will be completed in the first 6 months of 2019.
Student Baptisms
Congratulations to Nazareth, Shiloh, Jireh and David Samuelu who were baptised with their brothers Manny and Roman last week. What a wonderful occasion for their family! We also wish Ashleigh Layton every blessing for her baptism next weekend. It is a very special time for her and her family. If any other families would like to discuss baptising their children, please contact me at school.
Bingo Contribution
Thank you to all parents who volunteer to help with our Bingo roster. Your assistance ensures that St Mary's Bingo continues to be a major fundraiser for our school. This week the school was presented with a quarterly $3000 cheque that will go towards the redevelopment of the tennis courts. Thank you everyone!
Principal's Award
Congratulations to Zara Peace for being presented the Principal's Award last week. Zara has grown greatly in confidence this year and is really taking risks in the classroom. She is trying her best with her learning and is making big improvements. Well done Zara
Congratulations to Genevieve Gladman who won the Principal's award in the last week of term 3. Genevieve has been an excellent role model for those in her class and has an excellent sense of humour. She plays a big part in maintaining a vibrant atmosphere in the Gr 5/6 area and has made great gains in her learning. Well done Genevieve!
