Leadership Report

Staff
Varlin Duncan is hoping to return to the College before the end of Term 3. A clearance for return this Friday will grant him and us that wish, so we will keep you posted. This is wonderful news for our school, we very much look forward to welcoming Varlin back to Edenhope.
Student Engagement
Year 10 students are off to a debating workshop in Horsham on 14/8/19, which will be a great experience for them. Mr Bucknell organised and Mrs Neall is taking them.
SRC students are off to a leadership day at the old Connewirricoo School and joining forces with Balmoral and Goroke schools. It’s all about forming partnerships between the schools and using each others strengths and resources. I’m looking forward to the direction that takes us.
Thanks to students, staff and parents for supporting the new school jackets, which look absolutely brilliant and are keeping students and staff smart and warm during these cooler months.
Book Week is just around the corner, which is a firm favourite for primary students. We hope parents and special friends are able to join in the celebrations and enjoy the efforts the students put into their chosen book characters.
The Kowree Sports is another primary event on the horizon. Again, parents and families are welcome to come and support the College students as they compete alongside their peers from other local schools.
Wellbeing
Thanks to all parents who have completed the Attitudes to School Parent Survey. Links were sent to all families and we have had a good response but I’d prefer a great response. Please take the time if your able to do the online survey - it only takes about 10 minutes and is open until Sunday August 18. Your positive and constructive feedback on areas we can improve or areas we are doing well in, helps us to create a better school for your child.
Early Years Program
In 2018 early year’s services and schools in Edenhope F – 12 College became involved in the Wimmera Southern Mallee Regional Partnership Early Years Project “By Five”.
The project has brought together parents, carers, educators and health professionals and family services staff to design the best system of support for every child and their family in the early years in our community.
Edenhope F – 12 College became involved in the “By Five” project to be a part of the community team working together to improve available resources and opportunities to ensure children in Edenhope have the very best early years and learning development experience. Improving outcomes for children and their families is at the centre of everything we do.
Mates Mentoring
The Mates Mentoring program has started up again for 2019 and will go into the middle of 2020. Thanks Alison Hausler for the work you’ve contributed to keep this great program ongoing. A big thank you also goes to those who have signed up to be Mentors this year.
Thanks everyone who contributes to our learning environment - see you next Whytalla.
