eSmart Week 2019

It's eSmart Week!
A week dedicated to building an eSmart Australia
National eSmart Week is held at the same time as National Child Protection Week and promotes the smart, safe and responsible use of digital technology and building awareness, solutions and ideas for education on issues of cyber safety, bullying and wellbeing both online and offline.
Discussions around students listening to body signals to notice if something doesn’t feel right and/or safe and where and how to seek help from a trusted adult are focused upon this week however this is not a conversation to just have in one week of the year, it’s important to be proactive and talk about safety (both online and offline) early and often. This week serves as a check-in point. If you haven’t spoken about expectations for online behaviour and use of devices, think about how you could discuss these issues in a way that is a firm and affirming commitment as a family rather than a set of prescriptive and restrictive rules
REMEMBER - Just because your children know a lot about technology, they DO NOT know as much as you do about life.
While your children participate in activities and discussions at school, we encourage you to continue the conversation at home.
Parent Tools- There are many great resources on the eSafety website to help you to increase your knowledge about potential risks and strategies to keep yourself and your family informed, alert and safe. https://www.esafety.gov.au/parents/
