From the Sport Development Leader
I would like to thank everyone for what has been a busy, exciting, and rewarding year for sport at the College. We have had a lot of girls playing throughout the year; with fifteen sports from which to choose, our 2020 Sport Captain, Emma Winstanley, created a infographic to show some of the data.
It is no surprise that Netball and Volleyball were the two highest participation sports with so many teams this year. Many other sports were close to the third spot, but Touch Football made the podium of our most popular sports. Some of our less popular sports also grew in numbers from previous years, and only three sports declined. CaSSSA and Mount Alvernia College will offer the same sports for 2020 again, and we are excited to see your daughters out playing next year.
Of course. sport would not be possible without the help and support of Shan, who works with me here in the office. We are very lucky to have Shan, and appreciate all that she does for sport at the College. Our teachers and parents who give up their time to coach and manage teams also are pivotal to the success of the program, and we thank you all very much. We cannot forget the contribution of our 2019 Sport Captain, Maddie Brown, and the team behind her. Maddie made a valuable contribution to the spirit and direction of sport this year. We hope to see her back coaching in 2020.
With just one week to go here, I wish everyone an active but relaxing holiday. I hope to see you all back in 2020 ready to have fun and represent the College in sport.

Queensland Youth Girls Rugby 7s
Congratulations to Luanna Moors (Year 12) on her selection onto the Queensland Youth Rugby 7s team. Luanna and her teammates will compete in the National Championships at the end of this month.
All Schools Rugby 7s
Mount Alvernia College sent two teams to the All Schools Championships this year. Both our U13 and U15 teams were excellent over the weekend, with the 13s placing third at the end of the weekend. It has been great progress this year with these girls, and we look forward to the future and, in particular, the New Zealand Tour next year.
Ice Skating
Anya Wadham will next week represent Queensland as part of Team Phoenix at the 2019
Australian Figure Skating Championships. Anya has also been named as Team Captain for the second year running. Good luck, Anya and Team Queensland.
