Year 8 PUSH Program
By Ben White (Year 8 Push Co-ordinator)
Year 8 at BHCS includes a program called “PUSH” which is focused on developing strengths; both physical strengths and character strengths.
Like most things during 2021, this program was interrupted by lockdowns but we are excited that the Year 8 students got to resume the Push program this week! The cohort is split into 4 groups that rotate through 4 different activities - Mountain-biking, Cross-training, Strength & Conditioning, and Boxing throughout the year.
Each Tuesday and Thursday students spend a period engaged with these activities that challenge them physically and mentally; all aimed at stretching them to push themselves and engage in an active curriculum.
Well done to each of our Year 8's for venturing outside of their comfort zones and trying something new!
Celebrating 100 Days of Prep
By Cassie Allison & Cathleen Barker (Prep Teachers)
Students arrived on Monday morning bright and early and 100 years old! This year definitely must have aged them as there were gray-haired heads, canes, glasses, and 'old people' fashion on our Prep students.
They played the role beautifully. During class time, our Preps enjoyed multiple types of activities all to do with the number 100. We counted, danced, wrote our numbers, beaded, graphed and we even made a picture of ourselves, as a 100 year old. We wrote a story about what it would be like 100 and came up with 100 things that make us happy. We were thankful that we could finally celebrate our postponed 100 days as a class back at school altogether. At the end of the day, when we asked our Preps what was their favourite part, there was an overwhelming response of "everything!" It sure will be a day to remember for our Preps.
Well done to all the parents who helped pull all these little 100 year old outfits together so we can enjoy these super cute pictures! We are looking forward to a great Term 4 with lots more fun to come!
