Principal's Update

It has been wonderful to have all our students and staff return to school this week, as students move in and out of onsite and remote learning as part of the staggered return to school.  While we are all looking forward to the time when all students return to onsite learning fulltime, I would like to acknowledge the contribution of all staff as they work to provide continuity of learning and to thank all families for their ongoing support.  Next week, the staggered return to school continues with students in Years 3 & 4 attending onsite Tuesday and Wednesday and students in Years 5 & 6 attending onsite Thursday and Friday.  It is expected that all students will resume full-time face to face teaching on Tuesday, 26th October.

As announced last week, the Chief Health Officer has instructed that from Monday 18th October, students in Years 3-6 will be required to wear a mask while indoors. While we are still waiting on further advice from the Department of Education, it is our understanding that the only exception to this is if students are unable to wear a face mask due to the nature of their disability, medical or mental health condition. It would be greatly appreciated if families could please ensure all masks are clearly labelled with your child's name.

As part of our SunSmart Policy, all students now need to wear a school hat when playing outside. Please ensure that your child’ school hat(s) are clearly labelled and returned to school by next week.  If you need to purchase a new hat, these can be ordered online through the school uniform order form.

As students return to onsite learning, it has been noticed that many students are eating all their food early in the day.  While we are always happy to provide additional fruit or sandwiches, it would be appreciated if families could please provide additional food in lunch boxes, particularly if lunch boxes are coming home empty each day.

Sadly, last week Tad announced his retirement from his role in grounds and maintenance.  Tad has been working with our school over 15 years. During this time, he has not only kept our school looking fabulous and in abundant supply of edible goodies to forage, but he also contributed greatly to our school community.  Tad is much loved by students and staff alike and there is no doubt that he will be greatly missed in our school.  We wish him and Julie all the very best for the future and many happy and exciting adventures in retirement!

Thank you to those families who have provided feedback to inform our class placement of students in 2022.  To assist with informing our class placements, families are invited to complete a feedback form for each child currently attending school (Prep-5). If you haven’t already done so, please take the time to complete this form.
