TOP CLASS - DANCE - Caitlin Irving

Congratulations to Caitlin Irving, one of our Year 12 students, who was chosen to perform in this year’s very prestigious Top Class Performance at Melbourne Recital Centre, as part of the VCE Season of Excellence.

Every year, the top VCE and VET dance students in the state are invited to audition for Top Class Dance. Top Class Dance is a concert comprising of these dance students to showcase and share their hard work and talent with the public.

This is what Caitlin had to say about the experience:

I was honoured to be a part of Top Class Dance in 2019 and it was a very rewarding and exciting experience. I received an invitation to audition for the performance in late December and then auditioned in January. The audition process involved me having to present the dance I performed for my VET dance exam at the end of last year, which had then been graded by a panel of judges and gone towards my study score for the subject. Shortly after, I was notified of my acceptance. The performance was an amazing experience and I am extremely thankful to have had the opportunity to participate.”

TOP ARTS - Belle Rundle

Congratulations to Belle Rundle, one of our Year 11 Studio Arts students from last year, whose artwork was shortlisted for this year’s very prestigious Top Arts exhibition at the NGV at Fed Square, as part of the VCE Season of Excellence. Having your artwork shortlisted shows the extremely high calibre of work created.

Unfortunately, the NGV is unable to include all of the shortlisted artworks. But to be shortlisted is an amazing achievement and honour. Congratulations to Belle and her teacher, Mrs Pryor.

Congratulations to Vanessa Wong, an ex student who is currently studying at the Cinema School at San Francisco State Uni, who filmed and edited this film clip from our Arts show last year, showing the amazing artworks that were on display.

Each November we hold an Arts Show where we celebrate the achievements of our amazing art students. All visitors to the Arts Show Opening night were asked to vote for their favourite artwork in both the Junior and the Senior schools and the student who received the most votes wins the People’s Choice Award, which includes a cheque and a certificate.

Congratulations to all these students who received votes.

Congratulations to Alyssa Nikolakopoulos who won the People’s Choice Award for the Junior school. She worked really hard not only in Year 9 Ceramics, but also in Art and Visual Communication.

Congratulations to Clare Kim who won the People’s Choice Award for the Senior school for the third year in a row. She is a very talented and hard working student, whose drawing skills are amazing. She has previously been featured in The McKinnon Newsletter because her Instagram account, which showcases her drawings, has such a huge number of followers.

ksy.ck is her account name on Instagram and she currently has 129 thousand followers and increasing every day. An incredible effort for anybody, let alone a 17 year old.
