MUSIC TOUR

Congratulations to the Touring Orchestra, Stage Band and Singers who returned from a highly successful tour of the USA and Canada on Thursday 11 April. We look forward to hearing and seeing about the many highlights that were had whilst on tour. Thank you to Mr Michael Kan and Ms Robyn Pryor for accompanying the group, and a huge congratulations to Mr Dmitry Serebrianik, Ms Tracy Videon and Ms Blanka West for their organisation of this tour and willingness to develop the students further in their musical abilities.

ANZAC DAY

Congratulations to the junior Saxophone quartet (Jordan Berger, Jonah Rudzki, Ido Shahar and Jay Shen) who helped commemorate Anzac Day at the Bentleigh RSL on Wednesday 25 April. Thank you also to the singers Tia Finn and James Vassiliou who sang the national anthems for the ceremony. Thank you to Mr Martin West for working with these students in preparation.

 

Thank you to Oscar Zhang who played the Last Post at the Anzac Day Ceremony at Caulfield Primary School on Wednesday 25 April.

FRANKSTON MUSIC FESTIVAL

It was fantastic to hear the musical development of the Tour Stage Band at the Frankston Music Festival on Saturday 27 April. The group played a great 30-minute set to a very warm and receptive audience. Thank you to Mr Dmitry Serebrianik for his ongoing commitment to this group.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Congratulations to the students from the Monash choral group for their performance of National Anthem and “Somebody that I used to know” by Goteye at the first General Assembly of Term 2 on Thursday 2 May. It was a great way to open the assembly!  Thank you to the music house captains Michael Flavell, Caitlin Irving, Linda Nguyen, Eriks Stepanuks and Fanxuan Xia for their ongoing work and dedication to achieving the best.

Thank you also to Oscar Zhang who played the Last Post to commemorate Anzac Day Ceremony at General Assembly.

Term 2 has a number of performances where students will be able to demonstrate their developing skills. These are the dates for important performances throughout this term:

  • 27 May – Symphonic wind at Lions Festival Cranbourne
  • 28 May – Senior Concert (Orchestra, Ovenden Band, Intermediate Stage Band required)
  • 18 June – Tri-school Senior Bands Concert
  • 25 June – June Ensembles Concert (Junior/Intermediate groups)
  • 27 June  – Year 12 Night
