Senior Years Final Service
The Senior Years Final Closing Service was one of review and recognising achievements. I would like to congratulate and thank all those students who were highlighted for their achievements and the many others, who throughout the year, have made use of the wonderful gifts they have been given.
A small group of Year 10 and Year 11 students reflected on the year and I thank them for having the courage to share their experiences.
As we look toward 2018, I encourage students to take the next step of being a senior student. Year 11s, as Year 12s, take on the various extra curricular and Village leadership roles of the College. Year 10s, as Year 11s, move to consolidate their study habits as they begin their SACE, and will also have the privilege to mentor younger students through Peer Support and in many other ways. Students were reminded that it is important to take a risk and be prepared to give themselves these chances to grow.
I encourage all of you, as you relax and refresh for next year, to think about your capacity for leadership. It is not just for those confident to stand up and speak, but for all.
Some of the changes that occurred in the College in 2017 such as, the Colleges consolidation of the Years 7s being on campus and the use of the Middle Years Building and the preparation of a fourth Care Group in every Village for 2018.
There have been a lot of exciting programs, projects and activities throughout the year but the end of the school year also brings change when some of our student community choose to leave us. For those in this position, I wish you well on behalf of the College as you pursue the next challenges and adventures ahead of you. We hope that you will look back in years to come with fond memories of your time here.
